Friday Aug. 11/16
My dear Etta & MOTHER:-
As this is the latter
part of the week I will try and make my
annual report in regard to my health
and conduct. Both are “GOOD.” up to the
present I have learned no bad habits except
I have become proficient in these, I will take
on SWEARING but at present I have
my hands full. Don’t you think I am
doing well for a start?
Today at noon our whole SIGNAL BASE
were put under C.B., as last night two
of the boys failed to salute a staff officer
in Folkestone. As a matter of fact they
did not see him but that doesn’t seem
to have any bearing on the case what
so ever. Besides the C.B. we spend 45 min
utes after parade hours in salute &
Drill. To a common ordinary Civilian
that would seem rather unfair but
but to us Soldiers it is one of many
trials we have to bear. You certainly
