aeroplane, flying at
great height over a
town through which
we passed, was stilled
by our guns. We
were quite excited
then and thought
we were sure victims.
Aerial fights are a
daily spectacle now
and although they are
always interesting
they don't excite us as
the first one did.
Arriving at the end
of our train journey
we were marched
about five miles in the
rain to our temporary
quarters, which were
in a barn. In one
end was a house stable
in the other a chicken
