having a bomb proof
dug-out with a dry

A couple of days ago
was in ____ when they
were shelling. One shell
went through a black-
smith shop blowing
the legs off the blacksmith
and killing a horse he
was shoeing. Another
shell lit near a dug-
out and injured a
man who was walking
by. Two men quite
near him dropped to
the ground and were
unhurt. Monty who
was out with me
dropped into a mud
