Discussion of business for the District Convention
to be held in Oakville June 7th took place. Upon motio
n of Mrs. Wood, seconded by Mrs Ackney, Mrs. Coates
Mrs. Whitmore, Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Alford were appoint-
ed to arrange for the afternoon program, while the lun
ch committee with Mrs. Coates as convenor [convener] were as foll
ows: -Miss Lloyd, Miss E. Thompson, Miss T, Metcalfe,
Mrs. F. Metcalfe.
Mrs. Tooth gave a short talk on food-conservation
and made a strong appeal to the women of the vicinity
to do their utmost toward this end. She then made a
motion which was seconded by Mrs. Coates that the WS
continue their meetings without their accustomed re-
freshments. An amendment was made to this motion by
Mrs. Robinson seconded by Mrs. Staples that in consider-
ation of the fact that many of the members came from
long distances that we continue our lunch as heretofor [heretofore]
but in the form of war-time rations. The amendment
carried. Food conservation pledge-cards were passed
among the members and signed.
