BROTHERHOOD OF PAINTERS, DECORATORS
AND PAPERHANGERS, LOCAL NO. 739
Local No. 739 will again come before the public
on Labor Day and take a prominent place in the
parade as in the past and will endeavor to do honor
and credit to the great Brotherhood to which it
belongs. Local 739 has held its own in the past year
although a great many of our old members have taken
clearance cards and gone away, but still there has
been a steady growth by new members coming in, a
great many coming from the Old Country. At our
last convention held at Memphis, in December, 1905,
a clause was inserted into our constitution to the effect
that all members of unions in our craft in foreign
countries presenting a two years’ paid up card could
come into any local of the Brotherhood by paying one
years’ dues, and a great many have taken advantage
of this.
This is as it should be. “Why not?” Be one
great international organization taking in all parts of
the world. We are all organized for one common
cause.
So far we have experienced little difficulty in
placing our union men in good employment as the

President of the Painters and
Decorators Union
HARRY ADAMS
