Organizational history of "Loyal Orange Association of British America. Grand Lodge of Manitoba"

The first Orange Lodge in Manitoba was founded in 1870 by a few men and officers in the First Ontario Rifles serving under Col. Wolseley. Originating in Ireland, the Loyal Orange Order was committed to the British monarchy and staunchly Protestant.
