Established in September 1914, l’Académie Taché was a
literary circle for students pursuing classical studies at Le
Petit Séminaire (Minor Seminary)
in St. Boniface. The students met on a monthly
basis to present speeches and debate a variety of topics, many of which
were of a religious, historical or philosophical nature. They also
debated some current issues such as war and prohibition. The literary
circle ceased to exist in November 1922 after fire destroyed
St. Boniface College and Le Petit Séminaire
opened its doors to accept the College’s students. Thereafter the
two academic institutions became one, known by the name of Le
Collège de Saint-Boniface, and the much larger
student population founded new clubs and organizations.
