The initial integration of information contained in this large and visually appealing map began upon the arrival of Colonel Garnet Wolseley’s men at Fort Garry. The map not only highlights, in red, the course that the expeditionary force took, but it also provides a time stamp, by indicating the dates, that the first troops arrived at various places along the route. As a result of the travels of the expeditionary force, a new and large body of geographical knowledge was gathered and then incorporated by A.L. Russell on this map.
