Mon. [Monday] June 23 – A year since Robt. [Robert] left Portage. I did
washing & scrubbed both kitchens & girls baked &
tidied up house. Awful day at phone: finally got
Wpg. [Winnipeg]. Soldiers’ trains reach there at 10 & 12 to-
morrow morn. Papa going down. We’ve phoned a-
round to ask people to meet train at 7:15 in eve [evening]
& to go for picnic down to his place. I hope it turns out
well. Girls wk [walk] to Base ball practise with Jennie
