Oct. [October] 6. Sun [Sunday] – Dull & damp. The girls, Papa & Walt. [Walter] to
church. A great rumor of Austria surrendering
& Germany wanting to make peace, was going,
bells ringing & whistles blowing. Quiet day. Reading.
I wrote to Robt. [Robert] letter 39: Rec’d [received] Nov 22. (Between the
