July 24 Mon [Monday] – Papa to town. Best word that
Sandy McVicar was killed in a charge
on July 1st, they got the cable yesterday. All
feeling very badly. I did washing & cleaned
up upstairs beds. In eve. [evening] we went to the
McVicar’s, took Mr. & Mrs. Stanger with us.
Mr. & Mrs. Jas. [James] McKenzie there; feeling badly,
but wonderfully well controlled. Very sad.
