Jessie Ambrose (1897-19?) lived all her life in England, but her family immigrated to Canada around 1905. From Ste-Anne de Bellevue, Quebec, they moved to Brandon, Manitoba (1911-1926), then to Fort Francis, Ontario (1926-1928), then to Edmonton, Alberta (1928-1934), and finallyVerdun, Quebec (1934 – 1941?) Jessie’s father was an itinerant freight agent with the Canadian Northern, later Canadian National Railway. Although Jessie did not herself visit Canada, the letters she received from her mother probably told her a great deal about life in Canada.
